| Butterflynose. Warrior of RiverClan |
Two strikingly bright hues fastened on the target. A gentle breeze stirred the forest, but the feline held her concentration despite the rustle of leaves. The muddy coloured creature wiggled its nose, before jerking its head to one side. Did it realize it was being spied on? The she-cat decided to take her chance. Butterflynose rocked on her hind haunches before propelling herself forward with mighty force. The creamy colored she-cat managed to trap the rodent in between her paws where she finished the job she began. She briefly muttered to her ancestors above; thanking them for assisting them with the hunt. Butterflynose buried her prize, digging a reasonable sized hole before shifting the dirt back across the kill. It would be safe there until she returned later on in the sunrise. The long haired ragdoll preferred fish; trout, salmon, carp, nearly anything fishy seeming. But, she could appreciate a good mouse every now and then.
The she-cat slowly stood up and made her way through the grass; weaving towards the river. The river was a prime hunting spot, but it also marked the border with ThunderClan; naturally; an area to be wary. Although ThunderClan cats were drypaw’s, they tended to stray away from the water’s edge. Unless they were brave. Butterflynose stretched her long legs out in front of her, arching her back slightly before she settled down beside the river’s edge. The water flowed reasonably quickly. There were a few leaves dotted in the clean, clear crystalline water. Smooth rocks and shiny pebbles glinted below the water.
Butterflynose could not imagine being anywhere else. The she-cat’s pale blue eyes ventured past the river, into the territory of ThunderClan. RiverClan was her home, her beautiful home. The sound of the water rushing was like a song bird’s melody to her. The cats she knew and trusted were like kin. Those outside to the clan ought to be treated with caution. Butterflynose’s eyes fell away from the territory across from her, dropping down to the water. It was mid-morning; nearly sun-high, so there were no dark gloomy shadows looming over the water today. Butterflynose leaned further towards the water, almost as if she was going to take a sip of the cool liquid. Instead, her eyes fixated on herself – in the water appeared a reflection, Butterflynose herself. The copy had smoothed down fur, clearly recently groomed, eyes glowing warmly, ears erected curiously and a tail whisking the air in the background. Oh my, look at you. A smile curved across the she-cat’s maw, clearly pleased by her reflection. After a few moments, she gradually sat up; pealing her icy eyes away from her mirrored image. Now nothing would get done if I stared at myself all sunrise. Despite how appealing that is...
Butterflynose inhaled slowly and peered again into the flowing water; this time looking past her reflection. Without a moment’s hesitation, the feline struck the water with her paw; hooking her pale claws into the body of a slimy target. Butterflynose drew her paw out, attached was a small fish. Butterflynose placed the fish to one side, keeping it by her body in case any ThunderClan warriors were to show. One could never be too careful, she thought. Butterflynose had not spotted any clan cats yet, not in the small while she had been at the river’s edge. But, she knew it would be naïve to think someone would never show.
